Summer Time 2015
Review of Earlier Weekends
News from the summer of 2015. A little slow coming as the 2 of us had Rotator Cuff Surgery within 3 months of each other, how's that for togetherness? it has been a physical challenge to be on the computer for both of us but we're BACK (can't keep a square dancer down for long ! especially a caller !)
Now for a little recap:
A great time was had by all at the camp and; "Halloween themed" dance in Boothbay, Maine over Memorial Day Weekend. THANK YOU to all who participated : we were thrilled at the number of costumes who danced into Saturday Night’s activities. It was quite a sight.. The weather co-operated allowing for full throttle dancing ! also, for very pleasant sight-seeing to local attractions including the Boothbay Harbor and the Botanical Gardens. Boothbay also has a small "hands on" aquarium on the South Island of the harbor close to Robinson’s Restaurant which is recommended by the down-Easterners for the freshness of the seafood. It is delivered from ocean right to their own dock .How fresh is that? We appreciated our drop-in- devoted dancers, some of whom traveled quite a distance to attend. They contributed to the 2 squares of advanced dancers who enjoyed additional daily dance sessions. We look forward to seeing all of our ”Boothbay”, friends for a FIFTIES Memorial Day Weekend 2016 !!!!!
Update on our Maine friend Judy Miller’s health. Her sudden strokes were a shock to all of us, she has now to returned home under her husband Bruce’s loving care. Mail would be appreciated please send to : 110 Milton Lane, Mechanic Falls, Maine 04256.
The following weekend Don called for the MontShire Campin Squares (Chapter #181 of the National Square Dance Campers) at Danforth Bay Resort near Freedom, New Hampshire. A beautiful place it is, and no better place to be for that weekends' hot weather. Between dancing, some campers kayaked, others biked and some like us chose sun and fun by dipping into the heated swimming pool. This club puts on a SUPER spread for the campers that attend. Ice-cream sundaes Friday night, homemade cinnamon bread and coffee Saturday a.m. hot dog and chili Saturday noon and a pot-luck for all Saturday night. It was a great weekend. Be sure to attend their 20th anniversary with their very first caller from twenty years ago. News flash for September 2016
Don Bachelder next September 16 – 18, 2016, at Horseshoe Acres, Vermont.
Also calling for the New Jersey Garden State Campers --
(Chapter #001 of the National Square Dance Campers) September 9 - 11, 2016.
NESRDC in Concord, NH Boothbay Harbor Memorial Weekend Halloween
We continue to be in Physical Therapy (don says physical torture.) He has just this past week shed his sling after 5 months. Now the tough part; don’t do anything foolish. Still 2 months to go until he is cleared for regular duties at work but his Calling abilities are just fine! Both the Nubble Lighthouse Keepers club in Wells, Maine and the Belles and Beaux club in Elmwood, New Jersey can attest to this! We were at both clubs July and August this summer.
August 21st thru the 23rd was our last camp and dance of the season. Twirling Campers at Horseshoe Acres in Andover, VT with the Connelly’s on rounds. Just over 4 squares of camp and dancers and Saturday night we were at 6 Squares. Thank you Cast Off 8's for your support.
Fun nights and classes will be here before we know it –a week and a half before the first one; YIKES where did summer go? PLEASE take a minute to check the calendar of events for update on workshops in Keene and Bradford both in New Hampshire.Invite someone to attend an event.
God Bless You All and many thanks for your support not only for us but also to the activity of Square Dancing. Sally-Ann & Don
